Codewizard streamlines the Code for Sustainable Homes process from start to finish. It was designed by Architects and Code for Sustainable Homes Assessors and makes managing a CSH development incredibly easy. Its also free to use.
It was in 2007 that the idea was first crystalised - during a seminar given by a Code for Sustainable Homes Assessor. As Architects involved in social housing developments, we realised very quickly that adhering to the code presents many challenges. Not least of which is the difficulty in obtaining all of the evidence required from the client and educating all concerned to what actually constitutes a Code for Sustainable Homes assessment. So we set about creating an online manager for Code for Sustainable Homes developments.
We worked closely with Liverpool John Moores University over a 12 month period and created the system which you see today. We have made updates along the way to improve the system and have upgraded the servers very recently to speed things up for all our users.
It also acts as a platform for Code Assessors to market their services to developers. Including SAP assessment services.
When logged in, Clients can very easily see exactly what they need to supply in terms of evidence for a Code for Sustainable Homes assessment. It gives a brief snapshot of the technical guide as well as the whole section to refer to for the assessors.
For all members of the design team involved in a Code for Sustainable Homes assessment, it allows for simple collaboration and should speed the process up considerably. For ease of specifying products that comply with the Code criteria for credits, we have created a handy and simple product catalogue. For suppliers of products and services, they have a captive audience of Developers, Architects and Assessors looking to find those relevant products easily.
Not only can the design team find those products, but through our partner company The Code Store, users can also buy certain products at very competitive prices.
Wholebuild, another partner company also has much more information about the products and whenever relevant, we link through to them. As a group, we are Build2Code, and offer an unrivalled route to market for suppliers of Code for Sustainable Homes products and services.
We have also developed a system for BREEAM assessments. Breeamwizard can be found here. It works along exactly the same principles as Codewizard but has some interesting new features such as a task manager and a way of assigning responsibility to the various members of the design team.
